Luckily this is on hardboard and trimming the painting down is not a problem at all. Who needs Susan Carlin when I have great blog friends to help me out!! (Not that I wouldn't love to have her help too)Karlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17814636977155763601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256547391140574037.post-72158194261653273472011-04-22T06:09:03.862-05:002011-04-22T06:09:03.862-05:00Thanks Azra. I will definately give that a try.Karlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17814636977155763601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256547391140574037.post-32617400444341289972011-04-22T06:06:59.771-05:002011-04-22T06:06:59.771-05:00Thanks Carol, I don't know. It is exquisite, the color of a copper patina. I too like the cropped version better. Maybe it is because that background is so dark and when it is cropped it isn't as overpowering. Too, the smaller items look more balanced in the cropped piece. I wonder what Susan Carlin would think. She has a great eye. I think it is a lovely painting and other than the crop, I wouldn't do a thing with it.Autumn Leaveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04010044052621228719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256547391140574037.post-8955919008147693582011-04-21T15:02:01.100-05:002011-04-21T15:02:01.100-05:00I think you're right about the cropped version...I think you're right about the cropped version being better, other than that its lovely.Maybe put it away for a few days and then look at it.You might find there's nothing wrong with it at all. : ))Azrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09221330558864635232noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256547391140574037.post-74208032824520169642011-04-21T11:44:37.233-05:002011-04-21T11:44:37.233-05:00Karla, I've had many a painting that I struggl...Karla, I've had many a painting that I struggled with the same way. I often take a photo & bring it into Photoshop. Then change colors there, or try on composition changes there - where I can "undo" if I don't care for the change. When I find what works for me, I then go about working with the paint. I like your painting - you may be having trouble seeing what the main subject, or focal point is. The flowers are wonderful, but the color of the vase is very strong, so it dominates. Use the computer as a tool to "see" things - like you did with the black & white study. When you find what you like, you'll know it, and know what to change (if anything that is).Nan Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03056726501810316005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256547391140574037.post-44969550633478654882011-04-21T08:09:16.015-05:002011-04-21T08:09:16.015-05:00My, my Karla....you have yourself a dilemma. We artists tend to do that to our own work.Carol Blackburnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02744965568317454970noreply@blogger.com
