I have done something different this year.  Instead of just painting paintings, I have actually become a collector of other people's art.  The above painting is my most recent purchase from Darla McDowell.  I fell in love with this painting when I first saw it.  And when I noticed it at auction on Daily Paintworks I went for it.  And I won!!  Isn't it a super painting? 

It was surprising to me to see a survey on another blog that showed that very few artist actually collect art!  Isn't that interesting?

I have bought several paintings and I have to tell you, purchasing other peoples' art is really fun!  You know how you see that tiny little detail that bugs you on art that you have created?  You don't do that with art that you buy from others.  You just enjoy it.  No critiquing involved.

Here is another purchase that I made from Azra earlier in the year.  I love, love, love this painting too!  It sits on my bedside table where I see it every day.

You know, we always hear the statement "Support the Arts".  Well why don't we support the arts by supporting each other?  What is more fun than owning a piece of art from a friendship that we have developed in Bloggerville?  And most of the time it is not a huge investment. 

Just a thought.
