I Met a Blog Friend!!

I had a rare opportunity over the weekend to meet one of the artists that I follow regularly in blogland.  Cathy Engberg of Color Notes blog just happens to live in Illinois and took part in the Mackinaw Valley Winery Art show on Sunday.  So I hopped in the car and enjoyed the scenery on the way to the winery just a short drive from where I live.

There was a nice crowd for the show and Cathy had a beautiful booth set up.  I knew it was Cathy's booth right away because I recognized her art.  But as is almost always the case, her art was even more beautiful in person.!  So many great paintings!  I quickly narrowed down what I wanted to buy to three pieces.  A great dairy cow painting named "Flo"

A beautiful chicken painting named "Scratch and Peck"

And another chicken painting named "King of the Roost".  (My friend Barb would NOT be surprised in my choices!!)  As you can see from the photo at the top I chose the painting of the rooster.  It is a beautiful painting and was nicely packaged by Cathy.  I really enjoyed our short visit together.  Hopefully we will have the opportunity to get together again in the future.

It is my hope that I will have the opportunity to meet many more of my blogging friends in person some day.  As a new goal for the second half of this year, I want to spend more time out of the studio and in contact with people in the real world.   A great tip that I got from the Sugar Creek Arts Festival (see previous post), was a new artist co-op that is starting in the near-by town of Bloomington.  I went to a start-up meeting and I am sure that I want to be a part of this group.  Another way to get out and be around other artists.  Can't wait!

  1. Karla,
It was great to meet you! It would have been nice to have more time to chat. Meeting other artists is important to me also. It's the best part of any of these show experiences so far.

So glad you liked King of the Coop! Good luck with your co-op! Sounds like a great opportunity!
