big, Big, BIG CHANGES!!!! at Karla Uphoff Fine Art

The Lace Maker after Vermeer

OK folks I have some very exciting news for Karla Uphoff Fine Art.

First of all I want to announce that my painting "Cherries and Pewter", that I posted at auction to raise money for Gavin a young boy in our community who is fighting cancer, went for $500.00!!!  Can you believe it?

The winning bid was from our local "Friends of the Library" group.  What a generous, generous thing they did.  And to top it off, my painting will hang in the library for everyone to see!  Wow!  How great is that?

I am so incredibly encouraged and uplifted by the generosity shown by this group that I am making a DRASTIC change to my art business.

Beginning today...........

100%.........

of every sale of my art is going to go to charity.

That's right, 100%  The charities may change with each painting.  Or the winner may get to choose the charity from a list, but all proceeds will go to some type of charity.

I cannot tell you how exciting this is for me.  It is taking ALL of the pressure off of me to run a business - trying to just make money.  Now I feel that any and all money I make from my art is going to a good cause.

And - All new auctions will start with starting bids of just $5.00.  So hopefully that will get things rolling right away in the bids.

My auction above, The Lace Maker after Vermeer will go to support Kiva participants.  Kiva is
a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of micro-finance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.

Basically how it works, I make a loan to a person (that I choose) in need of money somewhere in the world.  Maybe they need to buy 30 chickens and need $240.00.  I then agree to loan them some money ( a minimum of $25.00) and they agree to pay it back over time.  As the money is paid back to me and accumulates, I can then loan money to other people in need.  Isn't that a terrific system?  Like Kickstarter - but one better.

I hope you will check Kiva out for yourself.  www.Kiva.org

If you would like, I can get you started with a free $25.00 loan by making a referral.  Just shoot me your e-mail address.

I cannot tell you how freeing this new system for my art business is.  This will knit so many parts of my life together in a fabulous way.  My art, my faith, and my social work background.

The sky is the limit.

How motivating is that?

Thank you to all of my readers who helped me get my last auction for Gavin started with your generous bids.  I could not have been happier with the outcome.  Please consider doing the same for the current painting.  Having just a $5.00 bid gets the painting on to multiple pages of Daily Paintworks which means more eyes will see it.

Thank you friends!

Karla
