Three Plums
Three Plums
Oil on Hardboard
7 X 7
SOLD!
Did this quick little painting this morning. I had never painted plums before. They are fun to paint!! I coated the white board with a wash of Permanent Rose from Winsor and Newton before starting the painting. It is peeking through everywhere and I think it really pulls the painting together.
I also wanted to pass along a request from Sherry at Of Mice and Men and Cabbages and Kings.

Love From Me Project
Deadline for submission TOMORROW, February 25th!!! I meant to give this to you sooner, but I've only had it a couple of days myself. I thought it was important enough to have its own entry and I just realized that tomorrow is the deadline for your submissions. The cause is so much more than worthy and important and I don't know anyone who hasn't been touched in some way by cancer.
One of the bloggers I follow sent me this link via email and asked me to participate. I'm not so sure my submission will be chosen but that is ok too. The good news is that many of you will already have a work completed that fits Sarah's requirements. If nothing else, you may wish to purchase the resulting book from this project. The money goes for cancer research/awareness efforts.
Simplified Submission Rules
I lost my dad to lung cancer when he was 47. My mom has had two bouts with bladder cancer. Both were/are smokers. My dad added fuel to the fire with alcoholism. Cancer is a scourge that takes no prisoners. From the newborn to the aged and infirm, none are spared. If I could take the burden from especially any child, I would in a nanosecond. It breaks my heart to know of their pain, of their parents' fears and worries and heartbreaks. My favorite charity to support is St. Judes"
Since our Gabe died from cancer and was a patient at St Judes for 4 years we try and support anyone who is reaching out to cancer patients. I entered two paintings. Don't know if they will be accepted but I guess it's the thought that counts.
Have a great day everyone!

Karla,
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful work over here, both your painting and your ministry.
(My cousin in Ky just had a kidney removed due to stage 3 cancer. Tomorrow, 25th will be his 49th birthday).
Strength to you~
Thanks for sharing
What gorgeous plums!!! Thank you for participating in Sara's effort, Karla. And thanks too for sharing about Gabe. I hadn't known how you lost your precious son.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill, I am a big fan of your painting. No problem Sherry, I'm glad it's ok that I re-posted your note. Karla
