Sweet Williams

Sweet Williams
5 x 5
Oil on hardboard
This is my favorite time of year here in Central Illinois.  Everything is green and vibrant and fresh.

These flowers are my favorite wild flower.  They grow in the woods behind our house.  Locals call them Sweet Williams although technically I think they are some kind of phlox.

here is how it my look framed

  2. Gorgeous, Karla! I love those flowers too and never knew what they were called. They are a gorgeous purple, aren't they? I kind of like it just when the grass begins to grow and the leaves are just little fresh bursts on the trees. Kind of like a couple of weeks ago. To be honest, I much prefer winter here to summer. To hot and humid (those couple of mid-90's days we had...shudder...). Still, one can at least not be confined indoors all of the time, I suppose.

  4. Thanks Sherry! We do seem to get a lot of the extremes of the spectrum when it comes to weather here in Central IL> We could stand to have a few more of the mild spring and fall weeks but oh well, I like the variety of seasons.
