Garlic With Raspberries

"Garlic with Raspberries"
4 X 5
Oil on Hardboard

I just finished reading "Oil Painting Secrets From a Master". by Linda Cateura.  Linda writes about David Leffel in this book.  It is really chock full of great painting tips.  One tip was to paint so gently that only the paint touches the canvas and not the brush.  I tried to use that tip while painting this little painting.  I am not a person known for my delicate touch.  It seems that there are definitely times when this tip will be really helpful.  And then there are times when you want to scratch the surface and leave those brushstrokes.

It is interesting that several  artists that I am drawn to had Mr Leffel as a teacher.

Here is how this painting might look framed.
