Comparing Apples and Oranges
Comparing Apples and Oranges 6 x 6 Oil on Hardboard SOLD! |
I had a lot of fun playing with the composition of this piece. I like how each corner is a different shape. I just finished reading "The Simple Secret to Better Painting" by Greg Albert. It was recommended by Carol Marine. So here's the secret: never make any two intervals--of distance, length, spacing, and dimensions of shapes, or the value ...the same.
I did a value check using my camera and the computer and I'm pleased with that. As Greg says most of one value, some of another and a smidge of the third.
Can't wait until tomorrow so I can paint again!
Here is how this painting might look framed. |
Thanks for the tips Karla!! This composition looks beautiful! Love the colour combination.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors here Karla. And thank you times a million for the Ira Glass segment. I was enjoying myself, browsing through your paintings, then suddenly I hear the great Mr. Glass talking to me. And I'm at a point in the new year, in my work, my life - that it could not have come at a better time. Thanks for the proverbial hug! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Azra!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! I hope you will be able to find what you need to push through. Sometimes all we need is a good night's sleep and we are ready to push forward. I know, I get in those ruts too. Glad Mr. Glass could encourage you.
