Lone Pear

Lone Pear
5 X 5
Oil on Hardboard

Just a simple pear today.  I don't think I will ever tire of painting them.  They each have their own character.  And when they get very ripe, like this one, they even have more character.  Kinda like people huh?

It has been interesting reading about different artists' painting schedules.  Some do all of their household and childcare items first so they can concentrate on their painting.  Often not starting until 2pm in the afternoon.  I have found that with time I have developed a schedule that works well for me.  Since I am a serious morning person, I paint very early in the morning when I am at my best.  The house can wait, and wait,, ha!  Then when I am done painting I can get out of my painting clothes into "real" clothes and take care of everything else on my plate.  I also spend time during the rest of the day planning, setting up, sketching and preparing the canvas for the next morning so I am ready to paint again.

What is your painting schedule?

Here is how it might look framed

  1. Beautiful warm colours with a great shadow!! I in turn will not tire of looking at your pear paintings!
I don't get to paint until about nine at night, our work starts at six am and carries on till about six in the evenings.By then I am so tired it takes alot of effort to make me pick up the brushes, but I know that if don't paint its a day wasted.

  2. Hi Karla,
This pear glows with the adjacent color saturated into the wall. Nice.
I too am a morning person. For me that means a plein air piece completed before 8am each day. (Love twilight and dawn) The rest depends if I have to teach. I have 2 full day teaching days and one day with one class. My studio days begin after the plein air time. They warm me up, so to speak. Sometimes I on occasion I take a Sunday off, but rarely.

  3. Great pear, Karla! It has a nice substantial quality, and the color is very subtle.
