Lone Pumpkin

Lone Pumpkin
6 X 6
Oil on Hardboard

When I went into my studio this morning, I was inspired by a postcard of a pear painted by Abbey Ryan.  I looked around for something that I could paint and found my  friend the pumpkin.  I'm afraid his days are numbered as he is developing some canker sores, so this is probably my last time to paint him.  Still love painting realism.

I painted this without the use of cad orange.  I didn't know that was possible, but saw a friendly tip on another blog (sorry can't remember where) to use aliz crimson and yellow ochre.  I also added a touch of cad yellow and cad red and phalo blue.

Here is how it might look framed.
