Copper and Garlic
"Copper and Garlic" approx 5 ½ X 10 Oil on Hardboard |
Enjoyed painting this today. The warm colors of the copper juxtaposed with the cooler colors in the garlic makes this interesting I think. Unfortunately the picture doesn't tell the whole story with brushstrokes and colors. This started out as an 8 x 10 but it just lacked any punch. Cropping it down made me like it a lot more. So once the paint is dry I will be re-sizing it.
I am reading a used book I found on eBay called "Problem Solving for Oil Painters" by Gregg Kreutz. It is well written with lots and lots of examples. Some things are things I have learned elsewhere, but there are also new ideas (for me) that I had not heard before. Very inspiring.
I love how you create the drama between darkness and light so beautifully! I think that's one of your signature characteristics!

ReplyDeleteYour love for painting shows in every piece you do Karla! The garlic is beautiful and the bowl compliments it perfectly!
