Smells Like Butterflies

Smells Like Butterflies
8 x 10
Oil on Hardboard

I was anxiously watching my lilies of the valley for that first bloom.  When they bloomed this week I picked one and had my grand-daughter smell the perfume of the flower.  After smelling it she said. "Mmmm, it smells like butterflies"   Isn't that precious?  Out of the mouth of babes.

I was so anxious to paint this flower, but I quickly became enamored with the beauty of the leaves.  So many graceful curves and beautiful colors.

Here is how it might look framed.

  3. Lovely painting Karla, the leaves are really stunning with all the different colors.

  4. Your grand-daughter said it right Karla, these flowers do smell like butterflies,or how you would imagine butterflies to smell. She sounds so sweet.
This is wonderful, making the focal point the leaves gives this piece a much more dynamic look.I love it!
