The 7 Links Project

I got a nice surprise in my e-mail from my artist friend Azra.  She has tagged me in the 7 Links Project which has been started "To unite bloggers (from all sectors) in a joint endeavor to share lessons learned and create a bank of long but not forgotten blog posts that deserve to see the light of day again."  I have seen these on several blogs that I read and I really enjoy seeing things from past posts that I may not have seen before.

The seven categories are:

Your most beautiful post

Your most popular post

Your most controversial post

Your most helpful post

A post whose success surprised you

A post you feel didn't get the attention it deserved

The post you are most proud of

So here we go........

#1.  My most beautiful post.  I realize this is subjective and since I am the one writing this it is my subjective opinion.  I had to go to my picasa file to look at all of my blog images.  I guess my most beautiful blog in terms of art was one from just a few days ago.  This was my first serious attempt at a landscape.  I was really pleased with how it came out.

#2 My most popular post.  I think it would have to be my green bottle with peach.  It seemed to get the most attention both here and at Daily Paintworks.

#3. My most controversial post. Hmmm that is a hard one as I have tried not to be controversial on this blog, but I would have to say it is my post "Is There Such a Thing as Bad Art?"  I wrote it after another blogger called some art "bad" and it got me thinking and asking myself if there is such a thing as bad art.

#4.  My most helpful post.  I guess that would have to be the post I wrote called "Wrestling With God"  Some of you may not realize it, but I originally wrote this blog as a support blog for people who were grieving after the loss of a child.   I wanted to share some things that had helped me in my long winter of grief.  Since then my blog has been focused almost exclusively on art.  This post seemed to touch an sensitive spot with a lot of readers who were experiencing their own struggles with dealing with the loss of a loved one.

The little painting that went along with this post is one I did very early on in my painting time.  It is actually a copy of a painting by Roz .  I really enjoy her art and her colorful take on things.  I titled the copy I made "leap of faith" and gave it to my brother and sister in-law as they embarked on adopting two little girls.  I thought it takes a leap of faith for the parents and for the kids to try and make a new family work.

#5 A post whose success surprised you.  I guess I would have to say the post "Your help please" kind of surprised me by the willingness of people to help me out.  (but I shouldn't have been!)  I have found that most artists are very giving people.  FYI I just read that it is a good idea to ask for people's opinions as a way to increase the traffic on your blog. So....there you go!

#6  A post you didn't feel got the attention it deserved.  Well, that is a hard one.  I guess it would be a post I wrote in the beginning when I had about two followers.  It was the post "Day's End".  I chose this mainly for the painting.  It was done from a photo.  I thought I did a pretty good job of capturing the emotions on this little girl's face as she got a hug from her Mom after a long day at the beach.  Click on the picture for a closer look.

#7  The post you are most proud of.  I guess the posts I am most proud of are the whole group of posts at the beginning of my blog in April of 2010 that dealt with my grief and depression.  I am not generally a very open person so it was not easy for me to open up and share my feelings.
